Nottingham Earthquake

We were woken at 1 am by the rumble and vibration of an earthquake, 5.3 on the Richter scale (according to local radio reports), its epicentre in the next county at Market Rasen. Enough to bring people out onto the streets, fortunately no damage locally as far as I can tell. Check out British Geological Survey site for details

I was sleeping when I was woken up by this. As expected everything was shaking. Was scary as I stay alone.

I have a ridiculously irrational fear of werewolves (yes, laughable I know) but I was making myself sit through 'Underworld' last night in an attempt to get over it. It had got to a point where the damned things were attacking and the floor started moving and there was a massive rumbling. Yes, I pretty much sh*t myself until the wife came downstairs having been shaken out of bed. It was much better than the last one a couple of years ago which was just like a loud bang.

I lay reciting the Lords Prayer expecting my head to rotate 360 degrees at any time. I was mortified and couldnt move till my sis texted me saying she had felt the same. I prefer my earth to move in a different way to this!!

Before this happened, our house had subsidence. For the past few years, I have been told that the house could fall down one day if the soil keeps being washed away. Due to this, I had no idea there was an Earthquake, but I just thought it was time for my house to collapse on me. I'd never been so scared in my life. If I had known it was an earthquake, I wouldn't have bothered as much. It was a good earthquake though, certainly an experience!

Glad you are OK. When I lived in California, I went through alot of earthquakes. But I'll take one of those instead of a tornado.
